The inaugural BiPS Conference was held on Tuesday 22 October 2024 @ the Sainsbury Laboratory, University of Cambridge.
This conference highlighted the contributions of Black researchers to Plant Science and included:
• Plenary talk (Steven Spoel from University of Edinburgh)
• An Introduction to the Black in Plant Science Initiative
• Talks on Research Excellence Past and Present (BiPS Research Excellence Awardees and Thelma Madzima from Michigan State University)
• Short talks from our 2025 BiPS Summer students and BiPS Research excellence awardees
•Workshops on ‘Your Story and Heritage through Creativity’, ‘How to Secure and Build A Career In Plant Science’, and ‘Exploring Careers Beyond Academia’.
• A poster session.
• Safe spaces for interaction and building networks.
